Audio not obeying playback rate in play movie node

Steps causing the bug to occur

  1. Play a movie which has an audio track.
  2. Increase the playback rate.
  3. Return to 1x speed.
The audio plays as if the playback rate was not applied.

Have you found a workaround?

No

Other notes

  • Vuo version: 2.0.2
  • macOS version: macOS 10.14
  • How severely does this bug affect you? It prevents me from completing a specific task with Vuo.

I accept that playing audio during a higher movie playback rate is difficult, but when the rate is retyurned to 1 the audio should be in sync. It would be OK for the audio to simple cease if the playback rate is not 1. This is what other movie players tend to do, for example during scrubbing.

In the node documentation, “The Decoded Audio port only fires events when the movie is playing forward at normal speed,” so the audio should cease if the playback rate is not 1. We’ve reproduced the problem and have accepted this.

Just confirming…
Yes, the audio ceasing is the correct/acceptable behaviour.
My issue is that once the movie playback is reset to 1 from a higher value, the audio is no longer in sync with the video.

Paul,

“My issue is that once the movie playback is reset to 1 from a higher value, the audio is no longer in sync with the video.” Yes, we’ve reproduced this and will fix it.
