Make Color Layer output label is missing

Steps causing the bug to occur

  1. Create new composition
  2. Double-click “Make Color Layer” node in Node Library.
  3. “Make Color Layer” node is displayed in the editor window, but the output label is missing. Output label is displayed in the help window.

How did the result differ from what you expected?

The output port should have the label “Layer”.

Have you found a workaround?

I looked at the help window and saw that the output label should be “Layer”.

Other notes

  • macOS version: OS X 10.10

Vuo 1.N.0 where N is 2. I did not try it in older versions so I do not know if it is a regression.

I see a couple more nodes without output labels so this may be expected behavior and can be closed.

  • Shade with Color
  • Make 2D Point

We intentionally changed this in Vuo 0.9. A couple people had mentioned that the interface was feeling too cluttered, so we’ve been looking for ways to streamline it. We realized that, when a node has a single unambiguous output port, that port’s label doesn’t really add much. So we decided to remove those labels from the canvas, but keep them in the node documentation panel.

Tentatively marking this “not a bug”, but feel free to reopen if you think it needs further discussion.
