Running Windowless compositions have no icon in dock, while exported apps do

Steps causing the bug to occur

  1. create a windowless composition (most probably an audio generator)
  2. run from within Vuo editor
  3. unable to find app in dock- or when using force quit from apple menu.

How did the result differ from what you expected?

I expected the launched Vuo composition to have an icon in dock- and be able to force quit easily. If using Vuo for live audio only, (and live coding) it is impossible to easily quit launched composition.

Have you found a workaround?

Other notes

  • Vuo version: 1.2.0
  • macOS version: OS X 10.9

Either to use TOP from Terminal- or Activity Monitor and Force Quite process.

So Vuo Editor’s Stop button isn’t working? That button is supposed to automatically force-quit the composition if it doesn’t cleanly stop after a few seconds. If that’s not working, I’d like to fix that (rather than forcing headless apps to appear in the dock when they don’t need to).

Can you provide a sequence of steps that result in a composition you need to force-quit when Vuo Editor’s Stop button doesn’t work?

No @smokris, the stop button is working. I am used to pressing a “⌘W” when I want to quit a composition. Without an icon I can’t.

This bug is only a continuity thing anyway, (all running compositions have icons etc) but on second thought I can live with pressing “⌘.” Please delete or move this bug report.

Ah, OK. I’ve marked this “Not a bug”.
