Hi all! I’m E.L., a freelance writer focusing on public scholarship and creative non-fiction, as well as media thoughts and reviews (particularly puzzle/adventure videogames, TTRPGs, and sci-fi/horror).
During the day, I’m a PhD student in the History of the Exact Sciences in Antiquity, a weirdly-named field that has me diving deep into concepts of “science” in ancient cultures. I specialize in math and astronomy of the ancient Near East, India, Greece, and Rome, and spend a lot of time arguing for the scientific validity of astrology.
I’m also an amateur circus artist – I train on silks, lyra, and hand-balancing, but my true love will always be static trapeze.
