Vuo or Vuo apps may not open on OS versions 10.9.5 or 10.10

Steps causing the bug to occur

  1. Users with Mac OS 10.9.5 or 10.10 will see a warning when they try to open Vuo or an app made with Vuo. Vuo or the app won’t open. This is due to a change in how Apple checks for valid software signatures in Gatekeeper, an Apple security feature.

How did the result differ from what you expected?

Vuo should open without a warning.

Have you found a workaround?

Yes. Users will have to change their security settings or right click on Vuo or a Vuo-created app and then select “Open” from the context menu to have Vuo or the app open on their machine.

To change Gatekeeper security options, go to: Apple menu > System Preferences… > Security & Privacy > General tab under the header “Allow applications downloaded from:”, and select “Anywhere”.

Other notes

  • Vuo version: 0.8.0
  • macOS version: OS X 10.9

We fixed this in Vuo 0.9.
